Winter adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, Nimbus Fish Hatchery, Sacramento co, CA, 1-10-11. This gull seems to have a large bill for LBBG? Maybe Heuglin's? 50% cropped image.

Thick-billed Kingbird, Chula Vista, San Diego co, CA, 12-28-10. This is a photomerge created in Photoshop from 3 sequential captures made as the kingbird was flying down and then hovering to grab a berry or insect (berry I think?).

A beautiful male Hooded Oriole was found in area 8 during the Sac. CBC. The bird was found by Darrell Mohr at the abandoned Riverbend Golf course. It was originally spotted at 10am in a small Oak and seen by our whole group (8). It then flew to a flowering Eucalyptus tree about 30 yards west of Fountain Dr. opposite the JTS parking lot, where it disappeared. We tried to find it again at around 3:30pm but did not! Fountain Dr. runs north from Lighthouse Dr.
